About Fresh International Market
Yours Asia Sweet Dream!
Fresh International Market is an asian grocery store in East Lansing, Michigan. It is listed at 2800 E Grand River Ave, East Lansing, MI 48823, which places it among the local businesses of East Lansing that residents and visitors turn to when they need this kind of service close by. Besides its main category, the business also describes itself as grocery store, so it may cover more than the name suggests.
Store size varies enormously, from a small corner grocery with a few aisles to a full supermarket chain location in East Lansing with a bakery, seafood counter and food court under one roof. Sales and promotions are often posted in-store or in a weekly flyer rather than online, so prices listed on a website may be out of date. Seafood markets sell live and on-ice product and can usually clean or prepare fish on request for a small fee. Specialty food stores in Michigan may focus narrowly on one category, like a butcher, a rice and dry goods shop, or an import store, so calling ahead to confirm stock for a specific item saves a wasted trip.
Hours are published for 7 days a week. On most of those days it is open 10 am–8 pm. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. You can reach Fresh International Market at (517) 337-2519; calling is usually the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or directions. Its website is freshimarket.com, where you may find menus, price lists or booking options.
On Google it holds a rating of 4.5 out of 5 from 1,102 reviews, which is a strong result for an asian grocery store in East Lansing and suggests consistent service.
East Lansing is in Michigan, in the Midwest, where summers are warm, winters are cold and snowy, and most errands are done by car; businesses keep steady year-round hours with the usual holiday changes. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and East Lansing follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

Be very careful when checking out at this store. I stopped by today and picked up a few items. While placing them on the conveyor belt, I wasn’t paying close attention. After I got home and reviewed my receipt, I noticed something alarming—one of the items listed was not what I actually purchased, and it was priced at nearly double. What’s more concerning is that the cashier didn’t scan the barcode. Instead, she manually entered a completely different (and more expensive) item. Even more troubling, this is not the first time this has happened to me at this store. I had the exact same experience last year. At the time, I gave them the benefit of the doubt and assumed it was an honest mistake. Now, I’m not so sure. My advice: Either avoid this store, or watch the checkout screen very closely and verify every item before you pay.

I always love coming in here. They have a great selection of drinks, food, snacks, even sake! It's also not too expensive. I can leave with an carry basket loaded down with ramen, chips, drinks, and more for under $70.

To be honest, I was pleasantly surprised to find such a clean Asian supermarket here. In my experience, aside from a few good ones in Chicago, many Asian markets can be pretty messy. The prices here are a bit higher compared to those in Chicago, but still acceptable—after all, Chicago is quite far. The store is well-stocked, neatly organized, with clean floors and bright lighting. There’s also a hot food section, but it wasn’t open when I visited—maybe because it wasn’t mealtime. Oh, and they even have Onigiri To-Go inside! Haha.

Honestly, it's meh. The store is clean enough for AZN standards I guess. I wouldn't hand out the cleanest awards or the best bathrooms when the trash cans in the bathrooms are over full. The selection was fine and the pricing is what you'd expect, higher than smaller mom and pop shops but the store is mostly clean and well kept, well lit. The store has AC while some smaller places might just leave the door open and have a fan blowing air in. Not sure if this store is in its death throws or just underperforming at the moment. There were zero diners, although the cooked food area was completely bare, none of the trays had any food in it. No one was even behind the counter. The fresh fish area was also baren, although the fish is allegedly buried "under the ice". The bakery section is unstaffed. When I went in on a Saturday morning there was a couple packs of bakery goods. When I went back late in the afternoon on the same day, they finally had the case filled with baked goods sourced from Chicago. I can't help but feel they just aren't applying themselves completely and just barely clinging on to survive perhaps? Not sure if this was a post pandemic thing or not. The last time I visi

I’ve only been to this supermarket twice, and both times I ended up buying expired food — once it was a seasoning, and the other time Shin Ramyun. I can’t understand why products that have been expired for more than three months are still being sold and don't know if there are any other expired products. Never mind. Never go there again.
